Pianist Inês Andrade is a graduate student at New York University and has studied with Artist Faculty members Jose Ramon Mendez and Marilyn Nonken. She received a Steinhardt Talent Scholarship and is an Adjunct Piano Faculty at NYU Steinhardt School. Inês began her musical studies in her native Lisbon, at the National Conservatory and she graduated with distinction from the Lisbon College of Music, where she attended the class of Miguel Henriques (Piano) and Paulo Pacheco (Chamber Music).
She has performed in masterlcasses with Jerome Lowenthal, Vitaly Margulis, Boris Berman, Mikhail Voskresensky, Galina Eguiazarova, Artur Pizarro, among others. In 2010, she attended the piano course of Luiz de Moura Castro at the Conservatorio del Liceu de Barcelona and that same summer was selected to take part in the International Piano Festival in Paris, where she had the opportunity to study with Solomon Mikowsky.
As an active concert pianist, Inês Andrade has performed in Portugal, Spain, France, Switzerland and New York. Recently, she was featured in the Liszt Bicentennial Festival at the Provincetown Playhouse and in the 2012 Piano Studies Honors Recital at NYU and presented solo and chamber recitals at the Saklad Auditorium and the Black Box Theatre. She has performed as a soloist with the ArtQuest Orchestra, the Symphonic Orchestra of the Lisbon College of Music and the National Conservatory Orchestra.
Throughout the years, Inês has developed a strong interest in collaborating with instrumentalists, singers and composers. She took part in Viana Chamber Music Festival 2011, an international festival dedicated to chamber music with strings and piano, where she worked with the pianist Peter Donohoe, the Kuss Quartet and the Endellion Quartet. She was a prize winner of the Portuguese Young Musicians Prize 2011, with violinist Tamila Kharambura, with whom she has performed not only the traditional repertoire for violin and piano but also premiered new works and explored 20th and 21st centuries music. Recently, Inês started a new project with pianist Marta Menezes, which celebrates the Portuguese Music written for two pianos. |
