Additional Info: Jack Davies was born in Portsmouth in the United Kingdom in 1989 and took his first piano lessons at the age of 5. Having developed a passion for the piano at an early age Jack was given the opportunity to perform in prestigious venues throughout the south of England including appearances at the Ferneham Hall, Fareham, Guildhall, Portsmouth and Turner Hall, Chichester. Jack also enjoyed success in local competitions winning the South Downs College annual music award in both solo and ensemble playing and the overall performance prize in the Portsmouth Music Festival which gave him the opportunity to play a concerto with the Solent Symphony Orchestra. In 2005, Jack received a full scholarship to study with Valentina Seferinova at the South Downs College in Havant.IMG_0416edit (533x800)

Jack entered the Royal Northern College of Music in 2007 under the tutelage of Jeremy Young. During his time at the RNCM Jack has also been fortunate enough to receive tuition from artists such as Noriko Ogawa, Michel Beroff, James MacMillan, Benjamin Frith, Ralph Kirshbaum, Phillippe Cassard, Norma Fisher and Carole Presland. Jack has also enjoyed regular performances around the city of Manchester at such venues as St. Anne’s Church, Chetham’s School of Music and the RNCM.

Attending the RNCM has allowed Jack to collaborate with other instrumentalists in several chamber music projects and finds this a challenging and rewarding aspect of his musical life. As a result of this in 2009 Jack collaborated with fellow musicians to perform piano trio repertoire of Joseph Haydn in a public festival held by the college.

At the end of his second year at the RNCM Jack took advantage of the ERASMUS scheme and after being offered a place to study at the Sibelius Academy, Jack undertook a year of study under eminent pedagogue Jussi Siirala. While in Finland, Jack performed in the various venues Helsinki has to offer, and also enjoyed participating in master classes given by Konstanze Eickhorst and Ilmo Ranta.

Jack works as a professional pianist – both as a soloist and accompanist - alongside his teaching work. Jack’s teaching experience is wide and varied – teaching both privately and in schools, with all ages and abilities. Jack also finds time for various performing projects, and this season he has enjoyed performing across the UK including playing George Crumb’s ‘Vox Balaenae’ In Manchester’s Victoria Swimming Baths, and conducting a steel orchestra in a classical concert given in his home town.
