Lina Ding, born in China, has earned Master Degree of Piano Performance and Literature inCanada. Being as a piano teacher as well as a piano accompanist, she is currently making her home in Toronto.
Her highly acclaimed performance, working with chamber music group, choir, orchestra and solo recitals, have taken her across Canada(Mantioba and Ontario), Italy, and different cities in China. During her undergraduate studies, she received master classes from President of European Piano Institute, Art Majordomo of Kotor music festival, pianist Ratimir Martinovi; the clarinet Professor Robert Riselings chamber master classes in University of Western Ontario; Piano Professor Elena Levits from Hanover University of Music and Drama.
In 2009, she moved to Canada to persue her Master Degree in piano performance, studying with Professor Megumi Masaki, an award-winning pianist, the faculty of international musical festivals. During graduate studies, Lina taught piano in Eckhardt-Gramatté Conservatory of Music. In the 2010 Casalmaggiore International Music Festival, she worked with many good classical musicians all over the world. In addition, she received chamber coaching from violist Roger Chase and the world famous pianist Connie Shih, performing as a soloist and a chamber musician.
In terms of teaching, she has ten years of teaching experience instructing piano.The students are ranging from very beginner to adult age. Under her instruction, many of her students are awarded prizes and excellent results in RCM examinations(Grade 1 to A.R.C.T), musical festivals, and competitions.
As a pianist, she has extensive experience as both a piano soloist and collaborative performer. Many last-minute calls of accompaniment tasks has enhanced her strong sight reading ability. Her collaborative experience includes accompanying choir as big ensembles, performing Messa di Gloria by Puccini Giacomo and Gloria by Francis Poulenc; Chamber music in Casalmaggiore International Music Festival; Opera Workshop, performing Albert Herring by Benjamin Britten, Op. 39, In additions, she have accompanied many vocalist and instrumental performers for their solo recitals.
Being a Chinese, she is sensitive to the individual socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background of students. As a piano teacher, she is conscious of what takes to overcome barriers in order to access education based on her own life experience in Canada far away from her homeland. Patience and passion are the most important elements involving in her teaching. She is committed to providing a safe learning environment where her students are comfortable and they will have the opportunity to achieve their own potential. |
