Matthew is a versatile musician with extensive international performing experience. He has broadcast and been interviewed on the ABC Classic FM (Australia), MBS FM Network (Australia) and BBC Radio 3 (UK), and produced a commercial recording on Schimmel playing masterpieces by Brahms, Fauré and Rautavaara [MCD346]. Together with Helen Krizos, they recorded a part of the film soundtrack to “Of Time and the City”, Terence Davies’ homage to Liverpool. A graduate of Melbourne University in Australia, he performed Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concerto with the Melbourne University Symphony Orchestra. After winning the coveted Australian National Piano Award 2004 and National MBS Young Performers Award, he moved to England for further training at the Royal Northern College of Music, where he completed a Masters and Postgraduate Diploma, followed by a two-year Junior Fellowship in Solo Piano in 2009. He studied with Max Cooke, Helen Krizos and Nelson Goerner. Matthew performed Rautavaara’s First Piano Concerto with the RNCM Symphony Orchestra in Manchester and in the Lancaster International Concert Series. He also gave his debut recital at the Bridgewater Hall. From around the world, he was one of the few to have participated in the Leeds International Piano Competition 2009. Matthew was guest artist and adjudicator for the HSBC International Classic Piano Festival 2008 in Malaysia. Performing in concerts together with Australia’s renowned Team of Pianists, they toured Western Europe in 2002 and 2003. He has also performed in Singapore, Taiwan and the USA in the past. Currently, he is deputy piano tutor at RNCM Junior School and visiting piano teacher at Wrekin College, England. Matthew has a busy performing schedule in the UK in 2010.
